Abhyanga massage
Abhyanga is Ayurvedic massage. It is the oldest technique for achieving perfect balance by correcting injuries, shaping the organs, regenerating tissues and correcting internal malfunctions. Abhyanga is an ancient practice that predates the Vedic period. Within the Vedas, it is written that everything in the universe or cosmos is being massaged continuously to be in a perfect balance. The leaves and bark of a tree are being massaged by the wind, the rocks and pebbles are being rubbed by the rivers and streams, and the animals brushed by the wind. Massage encourages the feeling of “letting go” and also enkindles the feeling of closeness. Abhyanga is deeply relaxing, encourages lymphatic drainage, soothes tired muscles and promotes healthy sleep.
Massage is tailored to your individual needs and Margie uses only traditional therapeutic oils of the highest and purest quality chosen to suit your individual needs. It includes an Ayurvedic head massage.

Ayurvedic postpartum services
From ancient times, women have had great importance in family life. The wellbeing of society revolves around a healthy and happy woman. The period after a woman gives birth is considered a profound and sensitive time. Postpartum care allows a new mother to heal and nourish her body, to be fully connected to her baby. The first six weeks following birth is considered vital for restoring the mother’s and the baby’s immune system.
Margie offers an individualised postpartum package tailored to each new mother’s needs.

MARMA massage THERAPY
During a Marma massage, you will receive a relaxing Abhyanga massage with special attention given to the Ayurvedic Marma points of your body.
In Ayurvedic massage the Marma points have great importance. Marma literally means “vital areas” or “vital energy house” and has been described in much detail in the Vedic sciences as well as by Acharya Sushruta. A Marma point is defined as an anatomical site where the muscles, veins, ligaments, bones or joints come together. According to the Ashtanga Hridaya, the Marmas are also the area where the nerves intersect or meet.
In Ayurvedic massage the Marmas are used to balance the flow of energy in the body. Marmas which are impaired or blocked will result in the organs or channels becoming affected. To unblock the energy from these Marma points, pressure and movement is gently used to work the affected point.

Shirodhara
Shirodhara is known as the “Queen of Treatments”. The word Shirodhara comes from the two Sanskrit words “shiro” (head) and “dhara” (flow). It's an Ayurvedic healing technique and involves warm therapeutic oil being poured onto a specific point of the forehead, in a continuous stream along a thread. It is an individual therapy especially valuable in stabilising the state of mind and body whilst bringing them in harmony together. It is deeply relaxing and rejuvenating and assists healing in the whole body and mind. It is an effective treatment for stress, anxiety, sleeping problems, headaches and migraines.

Basti treatments
Basti treatments are muscular skeletal treatments and involve medicated, warm oils placed on the body at a specific place. A ‘well’ made of special dough is placed over the affected area and filled with the oil. Basti treatments include Ayurvedic massage of the affected area and the application of heat.
Kati Basti for lower back pain, disc problems and shoulder problems
Greeva Basti for stiff and sore necks and migraines
Janu Basti for knee problems
Netra Basti is not a muscular skeletal treatment but uses only warm ghee to treat dry eyes, swollen eyes and eye diseases (heat not applied).

Kizzhi Bolus massage and Navar Kizzhi Bolus massage
A pouch (bolus) containing a mixture of fresh and dried herbal ingredients is dipped in medicated oil and used to massage the body. For arthritis, joint pain, fatigue. This treatment is followed by a whole body steaming to help the therapeutic herbs and oils move deeply into the body. This is a deeply relaxing and valuable treatment.
Navar Kizzhi Bolus is another luxurious massage treatment, where the bolus is dipped in a warm decoction of rice and milk to massage the body. For immune boosting, sleeplessness, stiffness, to improve the lustre and suppleness of the skin.

Udwarthanam
A type of massage where a special herbal powder is rubbed into the skin over the body. This treatment is for sluggish circulation, complexion, itching skin and excess fat.
Udwarthanam is followed by a herbalist steam treatment.

Karna Purna
A treatment for ear problems, tinnitus, headache, jaw stiffness. Warm therapeutic oil is placed in the ear canal and carefully massaged.

A specialised Ayurvedic therapy where following gentle massage and warm compresses, medicated oil is administered into the nose with a dropper. This is a powerful and effective treatment for headache, sinus problems, stiff neck, clenched jaw and teeth, hormonal imbalances.
